Letflix was an unofficial free movie and TV streaming site, best known at letflix.tv, that let visitors watch films and series without an account or payment and gave no licensing information for what it played. Reddit users reported the original site down in September 2024, archived copies of letflix.tv stop showing the streaming site after that month, and as of November 2, 2026 the name is used by several domains and apps whose owners cannot be confirmed. US law and federal enforcement target unlicensed streaming services, and the FTC and security researchers link sites and apps of this kind to malware, so the official free services in the alternatives table below are the safer choice.
What Letflix was
The Internet Archive first captured letflix.tv on July 29, 2022. An archived copy of the homepage from that August called LetFlix “a free streaming service” and asked for no registration or payment. Its own numbers did not agree: the page description advertised more than 333,000 movies and series, while the body text claimed a library of up to 25,000 HD titles.
By December 2023, users of Reddit’s r/pirating forum were swapping tips about Letflix. It was unreliable: on February 20, 2024 two users wrote that it had been shut down, and on February 26 another reported it loading normally again.
Is Letflix still working?
The original site is gone. On September 11, 2024, a thread titled “Is letflix gone?” filled with reports that the site would not load; its author wrote that Letflix had never caused them trouble with ads, fake links or redirects. The Internet Archive’s last capture of the streaming homepage is dated September 7, 2024, and its captures of the site’s individual movie and TV pages run to September 10, the day before that thread. Its next capture, on November 4, 2024, shows letflix.tv redirecting to a different domain, and captures from December 2025 and January 2026 show a near-empty page holding only the domain name, a copyright line and a privacy policy link.
The domain’s current registration record gives a creation date of October 16, 2024. Since the address was in use from 2022, the name was registered again after the outage, and the record does not name the registrant. Fetched as text on November 2, 2026, letflix.tv returned only a short error notice.
No documented reason for the shutdown turned up. On November 2, 2026, a search of the website of the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), the anti-piracy coalition backed by the Motion Picture Association, found nothing for “letflix”, and CourtListener’s searches of court opinions and federal court dockets found no case about the site. The letflix.mom page blames outages of Letflix “clones and proxies” on SSL, connection and country-level legal problems, citing an unnamed development team, which cannot be checked.
Letflix domains and apps in November 2026
Many addresses and apps now carry the name, and none could be linked to whoever ran letflix.tv. Registration dates are from RDAP records and “first archived” is the earliest Internet Archive capture of each home page; a capture older than the registration means the name was registered again, possibly by someone new. All entries were checked on November 2, 2026.

Is Letflix safe?
The automated checks disagree. Google Safe Browsing listed no unsafe content on all six domains, and URLVoid’s 36 engines flagged none of the three it had scanned, in scans two to six months old. But Google notes that a site’s status can change, ScamAdviser reports that IPQS flagged letflix.mom for phishing, and Scam Detector rated that domain’s trust at 7.8 out of 100, though it found the domain on no blacklist. A clean scan is a snapshot, not a guarantee.
One user in the 2024 Reddit thread reported adult ads on letflix.mom that October. That is a single unverified account. Security researchers and the FTC have documented wider risks on unlicensed streaming sites and apps:
- In a 2022 Digital Citizens Alliance study run with White Bullet and Unit 221B, close to 80 percent of the pirate sites examined showed ads laced with malicious code, and on average one visit in six triggered an infection attempt.
- Kaspersky’s Securelist team reported in May 2026 that illegal movie and TV streaming sites showed a bogus prompt to update a player plugin; running the download installed a cryptocurrency miner and a remote-access tool. The report does not name the two sites, which used .ru and .top addresses, endings no Letflix domain in the table uses.
- In May 2026, Kaspersky reported that fake IPTV (live TV streaming) apps had been used to spread banking malware, chiefly against people in four countries: Portugal, Spain, France and Turkey. Because official stores turn pirate IPTV apps away, it said, people sideload them as APK downloads from elsewhere.
- The FTC warned in 2019 that pirate streaming apps and add-ons are likely to bring malware with them, and that malware can open pop-ups or redirect people to unwanted sites.
Is Letflix legal?
This section summarizes the sources listed below and is not legal advice. Under the U.S. Copyright Office’s definition, infringement generally covers five acts done without the owner’s permission: reproduction, distribution, performance, public display and making a derivative work. None of the Letflix pages read for this guide claims a license for its catalog, and the letflix.mom FAQ itself concedes that Letflix may be seen as a pirated movie sharing site.
The Protecting Lawful Streaming Act, enacted on December 27, 2020 as 18 U.S.C. 2319C, made it a federal crime to run, willfully and for profit, a streaming service built mainly to show protected works without permission. Prison terms run up to 3 years; up to 5 years when the works were unreleased or newly released, such as films in theaters but not yet sold for home viewing, and the offender knew or should have known it; and up to 10 years for a repeat offense. The law is aimed at operators: Senator Thom Tillis told the Senate in December 2020 that it targets criminal commercial enterprises and that people acting for noncommercial purposes face no prosecution risk under it. The statute also says it should not be read as changing how other provisions of civil copyright law are interpreted.
Enforcement continues. In July 2026, ACE said a U.S.-led crackdown timed to the FIFA World Cup, which the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center coordinated, had seized more than 1,000 streaming websites and also blocked 1,970 domains. ACE also cites FMovies, a pirate network logged at 6.7 billion visits in the 18 months to June 2024, which it helped Vietnam close.

Is Letflix safe to watch?
None of the checks read for this guide shows that a Letflix site is safe. On November 2, 2026, Google Safe Browsing listed no unsafe content for six Letflix domains, on data last updated between August 29 and October 31 (UTC), yet ScamAdviser relayed a phishing flag on letflix.mom. Research on unlicensed streaming sites and apps documents malicious ads, fake player updates and malware-laden apps.
Is Letflix legal?
No Letflix page read for this guide claims a license, and the letflix.mom FAQ concedes it may be seen as a pirate site. Under the U.S. Copyright Office’s general definition, an unauthorized performance of a protected work is one form of infringement, and the Protecting Lawful Streaming Act makes running a commercial illegal streaming service a federal crime. Is Letflix down or gone?
The original letflix.tv stopped working in September 2024, and its domain was registered again on October 16, 2024. On November 2, 2026 a text reader got only an error message from it. Other domains such as letflix.mom and letflix.vip use the name, but none could be linked to the original operators.
Letflix.tv vs letflix.mom, letflix.vip and other domains: which one is real?
None can be confirmed as the original. The archived letflix.tv homepage of September 7, 2024 said the site had no proxy sites and that any site using its name could be fake. letflix.mom was registered in July 2024 and points to letflix.vip, registered in April 2026. letflix.com redirects elsewhere, letflixtv.bond shows a business directory, and the Google Play app says it hosts no films.
Are there legal sites like Letflix?
Yes. Tubi, Pluto TV, Plex and YouTube’s Free Primetime program are ad-supported, and The Roku Channel’s free tier may show ads. Kanopy and Hoopla cost nothing through a participating library, or a university for Kanopy.
