Editorial Guidelines
These guidelines set out how Speculative Chic researches, writes and corrects its articles. They apply to everything published on the site.
Accuracy
Facts that readers act on are checked against primary sources before publication:
- Games. Developers, publishers, release dates, platforms, editions and multiplayer modes come from official store listings and from developer and publisher announcements.
- Sales and player numbers. These appear only when a developer or publisher has announced them, attributed by name and date.
- Books and comics. Titles, series order and publication years are checked against publisher pages and established references.
- Troubleshooting. Fixes follow the developer’s own support documentation where it exists. Where a developer has not explained an error, we say so rather than inventing a cause.
Where sources disagree, we say so. Platforms, editions and availability change, so guides that depend on them state when their details were checked.
Sourcing
Claims that a reader might want to verify are attributed to the company, publication or organization they come from. We do not present another outlet’s reporting as our own.
Corrections
When we are told about a factual error, we check it against our sources. If the article is wrong, we correct it promptly. Substantive corrections are noted at the end of the article. Typographical fixes and broken links are corrected without a note. To report an error, use the contact page and include the article URL and the claim in question.
Use of AI tools
Articles on Speculative Chic are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools. Factual claims are checked against the named primary sources before publication, and model output is never treated as a source. We do not use AI to generate quotes, interviews, test results or statistics.

Guides about platforms, editions and upcoming releases are reviewed and updated as those details change.
