Announcing a Speculative Chic Hiatus

While I’d intended to brace everyone sooner, it’s probably just as well to rip the bandage off. Starting today, October 1st, 2020, Speculative Chic is going on an indefinite hiatus.

Why? You may have noticed some of your favorite writers fading to the background and not posting any new content. And the truth is, 2020 has been a challenging year. I shouldn’t have to tell anyone that. Me and my writers are all volunteers, and all of us are juggling day jobs, families, pets, and other projects, and truly, it’s time we all take a much-needed break to rest, reset, and discover what Speculative Chic will look like going forward.

I won’t lie: I’ve got ideas. Visions. Dreams. All for this blog. The questions now are how and when, and until those questions are answered, Speculative Chic will pause posting any new content.

What’s not changing? All the hard work and wonderful posts you’ve come to know and love will still be accessible at any time. We’re also keeping our Facebook Page, Twitter, and Instagram open, which may feature new content here and there.

You can also browse our contributor list and follow them personally on their blogs, Facebook Pages, and Twitter streams.

Any return to new content will be announced on the above-mentioned social media streams, but it will also be announced here. So, if you’re subscribed in any form or fashion, I hope you remain. Because while I can’t give you any sort of timeline as to when we’ll be back, please know that when we do return, you’ll be the first to know.

I can’t stress how much your readership and support has meant to me and all of my writers. Speculative Chic was born out of a passion for the genre, and there’s never been a short of passion on this blog. We hope you’ve enjoyed the content, and we hope you take this opportunity to browse through our back-catalog to discover posts you may have missed or re-discover something you enjoyed. Book club discussions will also remain live, so if you get to a title after the fact, go ahead and comment! I’m sure whoever led the discussion will love to hear your thoughts.

With that, we bid you adieu. So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good-bye. And just because I can’t resist mixing pop-culture references, don’t worry:

We’ll be back.
