Weekly Roundup, December 3-7, 2018

Greetings! Your faithful tour guide and court jester has returned to both rehash the week and entertain you with whimsical commentary! (Humor me.) You should all know the drill by now, so away we go!

Monday

Our guest for My Favorite Things on Monday was Merrie Destefano! Merrie released a new book this week, Valiant, but she took the time out of her busy schedule to share a few of the things that she loves best right now. What are those things? To quote our delightful overlady, “Spoiler alert: um… actually, today’s column might as well be titled ‘My Favorite Apocalypse Things.’ Interested? Read on to learn more!”

Tuesday

Yours truly was on deck for Tuesday with a review of Mira Grant’s Kingdom of Needle and Bone. A thousand thank yous and good wishes upon NetGalley and Subterranean Press for allowing me to read and review this ARC. This was a chilling little novella with lot of food for thought. Read my spoiler-free review right here.

Wednesday

Lane Robins has completed her 2018 Resolution Project! Huzzah! Go read her final podcast review! PS: she has given us a treat for the holiday season and reviewed both The Message and The White Vault! Enjoy!

Thursday

Nicole Taft is almost finished with HER Resolution Project. Her penultimate Silver Screen review of The Huntsman: Winter’s War is right over here. Go read, and view the very pretty costuming (lots of spoilers).

Friday

Sherry Peters wrapped up her Year of Thrones! It’s been a banner week for project completion here at Spec Chic, and I’m so proud of our writers for carrying on with these, even when it got difficult! Check out Sherry’s final Year of Thrones post here (spoilers)!

To round out the week, Merrin announced what book we’ll be reading for January’s book club: Sharon Shinn’s Mystic and Rider! I’m looking forward to this one. We’ve also got the poll for February’s selection live and ready for your voting enjoyment. Go vote!

Book Club

Don’t forget that you can still hop into the discussion for November’s book, Cinder. I also hope that you’re reading (or plan to be reading) Jenni Fagan’s The Sunlight Pilgrims for our discussion later this month!

And that’s the end of this week’s entertainment! There’s snow in the forecast here in the Kingdom of Undisclosed Location, and I would seriously not mind being snowed in for a day or two. I could use the break. I, for one, welcome our wintery overlords.
