Hi! Venessa here. You might recognize my name from my monthly column here at Spec Chic, where I talk a little bit about books, television shows, and lot about conventions, including my Convention Life series and Con Season on a Budget. I also do some behind-the-scenes stuff for the My Favorite Things column too.
The next short in my Soul Cavern series is going to be released in a few weeks!
I published the first book of the series, Jivaja, in late 2018, then was waylaid in 2019 by medical stuff. Just before the medical stuff, I’d released a short story in the series, called Blue-Edged Soul, that occurs at the same time as the ending of Jivaja.
Then on March 1 of this year, I released Visci, the second full novel of the series. And now, I’m excited to show you the next short, which occurs between Visci and the final book, which will be called Hybrid.

The plan is to release Tempus Anima on May 1, though that might get delayed slightly, what with all the crazy stuff happening in the world!
About the story:
Ken Fontenot has a family Gift.
When he meets Noor in London, he’s flabbergasted that she shares this Gift. And he’s shocked to learn there is so much more to his abilities than he ever knew.
And now, he’s about to learn where his Gift came from and why there is a millenia-old battle between the Jivaja and the Visci.

My cover artist is an amazing woman named Sylvia Frost, also known as the Book Brander. She first hit my radar when I was listening to backlist editions of The Creative Penn Podcast and she was a guest. I really liked her thoughts and philosophy about cover art. Also, she’s an author herself, so she understood both sides of the equation, which was also a plus to me. So I bookmarked her site way back then, and now, she’s my cover artist!
