Weekly Roundup: February 24-28, 2020

Well, the news has been a bit cuckoo lately and overflowing with talk of COVID-19. I’m in Japan and my brother is in Korea, and we’re right in the throes of it. But life must continue on, and I must continue with our weekly tradition: it’s time to dive into the Roundup!

Monday

Chris Cannon is our guest for My Favorite Things, and we’re celebrating her latest release with Entangled Teen — Demon Bound, the first book in the Crossroads Chronicles series. What can you expect from this week’s offering? How about an invite to the Feast of Feasts, a 15-year paranormal series with everyone’s favorite brothers, and classic snark that’s a stake through the heart! For more, you know where to look!

Tuesday

Ronya writes some excellent recommendations for books to broaden your horizons. The canon of authors and their fiction have not changed over the decades, and the works of white men dominate. But as Ronya says, “The default is a lie” — so it’s time to read authors that reflect the reality of the world we live in: one that is diverse and bigger than you can imagine. Read more here.

Book Club

Here’s a reminder for what’s on the horizon:

If you want to know more about the book choices above, read here and here, and we’ll see you soon for next month’s Book Club!

Robert Frost famously wrote, “Some say the world will end in fire. Some say in ice.” Considering many people are crying out that we’re in a dystopia and will eventually turn on each other, or we’ll be annihilated by a plague, the world is on its way out. How do you think we’re going to go? If you were trapped in an apocalypse from any book, game, movie, or TV series, which one would you choose? If you’ve got answers, I’d like to see them, and we’ll see you next week.

Don’t worry; it won’t end like this.
