Weekly Roundup, January 28 – February 1, 2019

Welcome to the weekend! How was your week? If it was anything like mine, there’s no doubt that you missed something that we published for you, our awesome readers. Fear not, I am here to help. If you’ve accompanied me before on a journey like this one, I’m sure you know the drill. For the rest of you, it’s not hard to follow along. Let’s go!

Monday

Stephanie M. Wytovich started out the week with a delightfully witchy edition of My Favorite Things! Go check it out!

Tuesday

Our first double feature day in a while! First up was J.L. Gribble, who resolved to revisit the entirety of Ilona Andrews’s Kate Daniels series this year. I have the first two in this series, but have never read them myself. J.L.’s review makes me want to prioritize this series. (Beware minor spoilers.)

Our second post on Tuesday was our Sound Off! for Glass. Shara White was the only person who made it to the theater to see this one. Take a look at her thoughts, but beware of all of the spoilers.

Wednesday

Our second double feature in a single week! Kristina Elyse Butke was our first post of the day, with a look at the major cosplay adventure that she’s planning for March. She’s hard at work, and we’re so grateful that she took the time to share her experience with us! Go read! Bonus! Kristina included plenty of pictures for our viewing enjoyment!

On Wednesday afternoon, Ronya F. McCool shared a review for the Icelandic horror novel, I Remember You, as part of her ongoing resolution to read translated speculative fiction. Might be some spoilers, but Ronya worked hard to avoid spoiling the ending.

Thursday

Lane Robins watched Lucifer, and she had some thoughts. You want to read them. I promise. Do so here.

Friday

To wrap up the week, Sherry Peters shared her thoughts on what it was to revisit A New Hope as part of her 2019 resolution to revisit all of the Star Wars movies. Check it out!

Book Club

You can still go discuss Mystic and Rider with Merrin right here, and I hope that you do! Plus, it’s time to start reading How Long ‘Til Black Future Month if you haven’t already.

Got any weekend plans? For many in the United States, tomorrow’s a big day! For those outside of the United States, tomorrow is the Super Bowl, the biggest American football game of the year. There are a lot of people excited about this. For those of you who are less excited, sit down here with Auntie Casey. Let’s chat for a minute. If you’re not into football, or even sports in general, that’s perfectly fine. Nobody needs to hear about how uninterested you are in watching the game. Let people enjoy things. Life is short and cold, and if some people find joy in watching sports, let them do so without your commentary on how the entire thing is not your style. Be better than that! I know you can do it. You’re great, and I love you for it.

Might I suggest The Puppy Bowl as a cheerful alternative to both the football game, and the time that you would spend snarking about said football game? Whatever your thing happens to be, enjoy your weekend!
