Weekly Roundup, October 15-19, 2018

Greetings, happy readers! I’m back! Did you miss me? Ready to take our weekly trip back into time? (You did, and you are.) Let’s go!

Monday

Our guest for this week’s edition of My Favorite Things was none other than our very own J.L. Gribble! This time around, we’re talking all things time-travel. Go read!

And then we were pleased to present Venessa Giunta‘s debut novel, Jivaja! You should most definitely check out the post and interview (and the book, of course).

Tuesday

J.L. Gribble gave her thoughts on First Man in the first Sound Off! that we’ve had in a while. No spoilers!

Wednesday

To kick things off, we got to read a review of Imposters by Erin S. Bales. You should read it too! Here is a handy link.

Later that day, Calie Voorhis gave a retrospective on her first year as our Chief Field Researcher for Changing the Map! Take a look!

Thursday

If you’re of a certain age, you likely read Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark when you were younger. I did! It inspired a life-long fascination with all things horrific and ghastly in myself. Nu Yang remembers them too, and wrote about them with great affection right here. Check it out!

Friday

Speaking of horrific things, Nicole Taft went barreling into meta-horror on Friday morning by taking another trip to out to the deadly woods. After visiting the original cabin (or ONE of the originals, anyway), she watched The Cabin in the Woods.

Our Daily Lovecraft

Nicole’s also been our Lovecraft tour guide for the last few weeks. Have you been following along? If not, you really need to check out Our Daily Lovecraft! I will let you in on a delightful secret (because I’m the editor and I’ve read all of these): Nicole’s snark game is strong, and I’ve actually laughed out loud at some of her commentary. It’s a great series. If you want to read the stories as you go, handy links are provided. If you don’t want to, that’s still fine! You can still easily enjoy this series.

Book Club

We’re discussing The Silent Companions very soon! Finish the book, and tell your friends!

And that’s it! It’s one of those weekends where I really must dash, so I’ll leave you with this photo of Chris Hemsworth and associates in Cabin in the Woods.

Do with it what you wish.
