Weekly Roundup, July 2-6, 2018

Hello, fantastic readers! What a strange week it’s been! Wednesday was Independence Day in the USA. Sadly, no alien overlords came to visit. But, some of us got an extra day off from work out of it, so that’s good, right? Right. How was your week? Did you do something exciting? If you live in the USA, did you take in the sky flowers that blew up overhead on Wednesday? Either way, it’s Saturday now. Let’s get on with our weekly trip back in time!

Monday

Debut author Lindsey Duga was our guest on Monday with My Favorite Things. Lindsey’s first novel just came out on Tuesday, so I’m sure she’s been very busy with all of the work that goes into such a production. Nevertheless, she still finds time to indulge in the things that she loves best. Those things? “An epic manga that spans history and the future, a shocking ending, an exploration of the human psyche, what happens when teens are forced to kill to survive, an anime that changed her life, terrifying monsters on television, an animated visual album and one of the best fighting shows she’s ever seen!” Whew! What a list! Check it out here!

Tuesday

Double-header Tuesday started out with a book review from…me! I’m as shocked about that as you are. I reviewed Micah Yongo’s Lost Gods. Take a look at my review, if you’d like. I mean, I’d like it if you took a look. No pressure! And no spoilers!

Our afternoon post was a review from Kendra Merritt. She reviewed Lindsey Duga’s debut, Kiss of the Royal. What did she think of this romantic fantasy? See for yourself! (No spoilers here either!)

Wednesday

Join me in tossing cyber-confetti and popping open the virtual champagne! Lane Robins finally “gets” podcasts! Hail Limetown, for being so awesome! I’d say more, but I’ll let the delighted lady speak for herself!

Thursday

Nicole Taft shared July’s first Silver Screen Resolution review. First up this month? R.I.P.D. featuring a pre-Deadpool Ryan Reynolds. I liked this movie a lot, once I finally saw it. Because I reside under a rock, I had no idea that I was in the minority until recently. What did Nicole think? Go read!

Friday

Sherry Peters continued her Year of Thrones. For this month she watched the fourth season of Game of Thrones. Take a peek at her thoughts on the season. (Spoilers, of course.)

Book Club

If you haven’t already started reading Naomi Alderman’s The Power, there’s still time before the discussion appears later this month! Hop on board!

That was our week! Thank you for joining me on our weekly time-travel expedition. I do so enjoy our little visits each Saturday. They remind me to read the things I’ve missed or to revisit the things that I especially enjoyed. What about you? I hope you have as much fun as I do. Til next week!

Image from Coco, Copyright Walt Disney. Some trivia: when I went searching for something to use for this week’s featured image, I wanted something from the film Land of the Dead, which is a film in George Romero’s famous zombie mythos. Humans use fireworks to mesmerize the zombie hoards in that movie. Fireworks, Independence Day, it made sense in my head. However, I couldn’t find a suitable picture from that film, but this one from Coco, which came up in my image search, was much too pretty to pass up.
