Weekly Roundup, May 21-25, 2018

Good afternoon! For some of us, it’s a long weekend here in the USA. What are your plans? If you’re working somewhere that has to stay open regardless of Monday’s holiday, may the odds be ever in your favor. In the meantime, let’s take a glance back at what we here at Speculative Chic wrote up for your reading delights.

Monday

YA author Lisa Brown Roberts stopped by to dish on the things that she’s most fond of! Those things: “the final frontier, a kick-ass princess, a cheesy but awesome show, scary-but-not-scary zombies, a fantastic mode of travel, and a solid dose of eighties nostalgia.” You are intrigued. You want to read her post. Check it out right here!

Tuesday

Carey M. Ballard appeared with a new Chain Reaction! This month’s topic? Immersive realities in fiction! We all need a little escapism. Go check out her post and see Carey’s thoughts on the matter.

A few of us saw Deadpool 2! If you haven’t watched the movie yet, what are you waiting for? Go read our thoughts on the film either way! Beware of spoilers though. Also, I’m sorry, as I’m the one responsible for all of the spoilers this time. Mea culpa.

Wednesday

Kendra Merritt continued in her journey through the classics of science fiction and fantasy this week in her newest Delayed Reactions piece. This month’s book? The Sword in the Stone! Go read!

Thursday

Nancy O’Toole Meservier reviewed another Serial Box production on Thursday. Her review of Born to the Blade has encouraged me to add yet another of their titles to my TBR pile! Read her review and see if you’re following suit!

Friday

Our book club discussion of Dragonsbane is alive and kicking! Join the fun!

Finally, a few of us watched HBO’s Fahrenheit 451! Should you? Go read our Sound Off! and see for yourself!

Book Club

Go chat with Merrin about Dragonsbane! And spread the word to your friends! We would love to see our little book club grow exponentially. Each month is something new and different. Next month, for example, we’re reading Dark Lord of Derkholm. So, if you’re done with Dragonsbane, now’s the time to get ahead.

And that’s that. As usual, feel free to chat with us in the comments! We do so love a good chat! I have a three-day weekend ahead of me, and I intend to enjoy every second! Who knows what I’ll actually do with all of this time! I’m going to pretend that it’s something other than relax with a book and possibly go see Deadpool 2 again. What about you? Have fun, stay out of trouble, and try to take some time to unwind a bit.  Cheers!

(Wade. This is neither staying out of trouble nor relaxing.)
