Weekly Roundup, May 14-18, 2018

Hello on this rainy (for me) Saturday! There’s no need to ask what you’re up to this weekend. It’s Deadpool weekend, and a little Deadpool makes anything better, doesn’t he? This music video proves my statement.

But anyway, what did we do over the last week? Let’s find out!

Monday:

My Favorite Things featured guest Cary Caffrey! What’s got Cary all a’flutter at the moment? “Diverse and hopeful futures, a love-letter to ’80s nostalgia, an immersive online adventure, and something you should absolutely listen to in the dark, even if you don’t want to be scared.”  Read his post and find out more!

Tuesday

Our first post took us to the land of Oz, with Changing the Map. Calie Voorhis talked about Princess Ozma and how she came to be this month. Check it out!

Our second post was a review of the Nebula nominated “And Then There Were (N-One)” from Ronya McCool, and you can read the novella for free.

Wednesday

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a late-to-the-game entry in our Resolution Project! Erin Bales will be tackling the massive In Death series by J.D. Robb. Read her post on the subject and her argument that thes books are, indeed, speculative fiction.

Following this was a book review by Kelly McCarty, who discussed Fonda Lee’s Jade City this week. Go read her thoughts, and see if she liked this one any better than she did Autonomous.

Thursday

Nu Yang began our Thursday with other speculative television and movies that used lack of sound much in the same way that A Quiet Place did. It’s a fascinating piece that you should definitely take a look at.

Nicole Taft was our second post on Thursday. She has taken a tumble down the Jeff VanderMeer rabbit hole, and we’re still looking for her everything is totally normal! Anyway, check out her review of Borne right here!

Friday

Finally Friday! Lane Robins finished out her voyage through The Broken Earth trilogy with her review of The Stone Sky. There will be spoilers, so beware!

Our final post on Friday was also our final Nebula review. Ronya McCool returned with her thoughts on The Black Tides of Heaven (mild spoilers).

Book Club

We’ll be discussing Dragonsbane soon! Keep your eyes open! Go vote in July’s poll if you haven’t already!

And that’s that! I wish that I could say more, but honestly it’s my weekend to work at the Day Job, so I really must dash. As I said before, it’s time for Deadpool 2! Go see it if you can, and stop back by on Tuesday to see what we thought about it, and even join in the conversation.
