Weekly Roundup, April 23-27, 2018

Greetings and well-met! It’s that time again when we peer back into the shadows of space and time to see the week that was. Gaze with me into the crystal ball. Who knows what mysteries await!

Monday

Busy day for us! We typically only publish one piece on Mondays, but this week there were two! To begin our week, our guest for this week’s edition of My Favorite Things was L.E. Stirling! Come read about the things that Stirling currently loves best right here!

Monday afternoon, we shared an excerpt from Spies, Lies and Allies: A Love Story! Bonus! If you visit the link, you can find out how to win a copy of this charming-sounding novel. There’s still a little time!

Tuesday

Our first column of the day came from Carey M. Ballard, with the latest in her Chain Reaction series. This month’s edition is a little different from the norm. Read it to find out what made Carey change it up this time.

Tuesday afternoon, we shared a book review from Lane Robins! Do you like steampunk? Do you like to say the word “rollicking”? Lane might just have the book for you.

Wednesday

Kendra Merritt continued in her quest to catch up on the classics of speculative fiction. This month answered Cthulhu’s call and read up on some of H.P. Lovecraft’s stories. Go read to find out what she thought!

Thursday

Nancy O’Toole Meservier began our day with a review of Amberlough by Lara Elena Donnelly! This novel has been nominated for a Nebula Award. Take a look at Nancy’s review to see if she thinks it’s worthy of this honor!

Thursday afternoon, Kelly McCarty reviewed another Nebula nominee: Autonomous, by Annalee Newitz. Did she like it? Does she think it’s a worthy contender? Read her post and see for yourself.

Friday

It’s that time, folks! This month’s book club discussion is alive and kicking! We read Redshirts by John Scalzi! Head over and chat with President Merrin and others who’ve read this delightful novel.

Book Club

Finished reading and discussing Redshirts? Time to start on May’s selection, Dragonsbane by Barbara Hambly. There’s still a bit of time left to vote for what we’re going to read in June! You can choose between Thud! by Terry Pratchett, Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, or The Dark Lord of Derkholm by Diana Wynne Jones. Go vote!

And we’re done! It’s been a great week for us, as you’ve undoubtedly noticed by now. We’re gearing up for the Nebula Awards (to be announced late next month) and starting to ready ourselves to consume and discuss the Hugo nominees. We do so love awards. Personally, we’re going to be up to some new adventures as well. With convention season moving into high gear, several of our contributors are going to be busy bees. You might even run into one of them somewhere. Keep your eyes peeled! You never know who you might spot!
