Weekly Roundup, March 26-30, 2018

Time, time, who’s got the time? And how did the week slip away so quickly? It’s amazing how swiftly time really does fly. Let’s take a quick stroll through what was what last week here at Speculative Chic, before it’s time for me to do this for next week!

Monday

Kate Jarvik Birch joined us on Monday to squee about the things that she currently loves best! And what are those things? “Frightening futures, futuristic design, a classic painter with an eye for the fantastic. Interested? (Of course you are.) Read on for more!”

Tuesday

Carey Ballard is ready for spring. (So am I!) With that in mind, this month’s Chain Reaction featured stories and characters about growing things, plants, and green thumbs. Read it here!

Tuesday afternoon was our Sound Off! for Pacific Rim: Uprising! What did our writers think of this sequel?

Wednesday

Kendra Merritt was our first writer on board for Wednesday morning. She continued with her journey through the classics of speculative fiction with her post on A Princess of Mars. Go see what she thought!

On Wednesday afternoon, Whitney Richter reviewed the Philip K. Dick nominated Revenger, by Alastair Reynolds. Check out her spoiler-free review, and join me in adding this novel to your TBR pile. (if you haven’t already read it. Maybe you have! Maybe I’ve been residing under this rock for too long!)

Thursday

Nicole Taft shared the next in her Silver Screen Resolution project with a review of Logan’s Run! I’ve seen it…have you? Go check out Nicole’s review to read her thoughts.

Are you down for a good apocalypse tale? Thursday afternoon, Merrin posted the last of our PKD nominated reviews when she shared her thoughts on After the Flare. Read her spoiler-free review here.

Friday

Kendra Merritt was back again with a post on her take on the term “comfort read.” You have those, right? You know, books that you turn back to when life is somehow getting you down. Read about Kendra’s comfort books here!

And finally, on Friday afternoon, Editor-in-Chic Shara White returned briefly from sabbatical to talk to us about the new Tomb Raider. There are no spoilers here. I repeat, this post is free from spoilers! Hurry up and read it before Shara changes her mind and spoils the ending (she can do that, she’s the all-powerful one…I am but a minion).

Book Club

Don’t forget to read Redshirts! You can also still vote for May’s selection!

And that’s it! I hope you have a lovely weekend! Personally, I’m working at the day job today and tomorrow, so that will be an adventure in and of itself. Working during the weekend can be tough. It’s hard to focus on the task at hand sometimes. Which, as we’ve seen, is something that can be very, very important. So, that’s me off to work, and hopefully I won’t push the wrong button.
