One of the very first projects we embarked upon at Speculative Chic was blogging about the Best Novel finalists for the 2016 Hugos. That was so much fun, we turned around and did the same thing for the 2016 World Fantasy Best Novel finalists.
Now 2017’s award season is upon us, and we just can’t shake this habit. This year, we’re starting with the Philip K. Dick Awards. The award is bestowed annually to the best science fiction or fantasy novel that was originally published in paperback in the United States. The 2017 nominees (which were originally published in 2016) are as follows:
Consider, Kristy Acevedo (Jolly Fish)
Hwarhath Stories: Transgressive Tales by Aliens, Eleanor Arnason (Aqueduct)
The Mercy Journals, Claudia Casper (Arsenal Pulp)
Unpronounceable, Susan diRende (Aqueduct)
Graft, Matt Hill (Angry Robot)
Super Extra Grande, Yoss (Restless)
