Happy weekend, all! I’m out of fun things to say at the moment, for which you have my deepest apologies. My brain has been sucked dry, leaving nothing more than the most basic of functions. But! We shall carry on!
Monday
Our guest for My Favorite Things this week was author Timothy S. Johnston! Join Timothy on a deep dive in his favorite things relating to the ocean!
Tuesday
Merrin watched season 7 of Once Upon a Time and urges fans of the series not to sleep on this season. Go read her post and find out why!
Wednesday
Andrea Judy should be hired on for Delilah S.Dawson’s publicity team — she keeps reading and reviewing all of Dawson’s work and it’s really making me want to read it. Are you listening, faceless PR team? Hire this woman. For the rest of you, read Andrea’s review of Sparrowhawk #2!
Thursday
We were joined by guest writer Genevieve Iseult Eldredge for Thursday. GIE contributed a fantastic post on the ongoing need for diversity in fiction in all areas. Go read her post right here.
Friday
For this month’s roundtable, we took a look at the Black creators and artists who inspire and delight us. Given that we’re reading N.K. Jemisin’s How Long ‘Til Black Future Month? for this month’s book club, I wrote my own contribution with an eye towards what my favorite creator of the moment will be doing next. Others followed suit. Please check out this month’s discussion, Black History and Future Month!
Book Club
I hope you’re reading the Jemisin book I mentioned before! If you’re finished with that, snag a copy of Kij Johnson’s The Fox Woman for March! And keep your eyes on this space, if you’re interested in a owning a copy of the book for your very own. We may have some good news for you in the coming days!
And that’s it. I’m done. I’m going back to bed. Why can’t I stay well this year? I hope that you’re staying safe and healthy out there. The flu is alive and well in my part of the world. If it’s rampaging through your hometown, too, remember the basics: wash your hands, drink plenty of water, and get lots of rest. And if you’re already sick? STAY HOME. Read a book! Watch TV! Nap!
That’s my plan for the rest of the weekend anyway. Having to skip a friend’s birthday party (and subsequently, delicious Mexican food and margaritas) stinks, but not spreading this cold around is the nicest gift that I can give anybody right now.
