Weekly Roundup, July 16-20, 2018

Good afternoon, all! It’s that time again! Are we all ready to go? You’re in for a treat! I’ve obtained Hagrid’s marvelous motorcycle for this week’s trip! Don’t ask how, I can’t talk about it. Have we packed up our snacks and found our travel buddies? Great! Hop into the sidecar (don’t worry, it’s bigger on the inside), put on your helmets, and let’s take a look back at the week that was!

Monday

Author James R. Tuck joined us on Monday for our weekly celebration of the things that we love. What are James’ favorite things right now? Hint: “music that is honest and raw, a television show that brings everything full circle, experiencing food that’s really worth it, a “hardcore southern noir” comic series, and a tangible form of music.” Tantalizing, no? Read his post to discover what these mysterious hints mean.

Tuesday

Changing the Map returned, with map-expert Calie Voorhis offering some extremely important information this month: Three Signs that You Have Wandered into a Feminist Dystopia. Tread lightly, gentle readers, and take a lot of notes. You never know when you might need them.

Wednesday

Erin S. Bales is still on her quest towards the (current) end of J.D. Robb’s In Death series, but she has paused long enough to ask a very good question: Why isn’t In Death on TV? Read her post and see whether you agree with her argument (and dream cast).

Thursday

Nu Yang watched and wrote up a quick review of one of Netflix’s many new original series. This month’s selection: The Rain. Find out what she thought and decide for yourself if you should give this series a whirl (minor spoilers).

Friday

Nicole Taft is over halfway finished with her Silver Screen Resolution. Yay, Nicole! *confetti* In Speculative Chic’s second foray into Netflix Original waters, this month’s second selection was Spectral. What did she think? (No spoilers.)

Book Club

We’re going to be discussing Naomi Alderman’s The Power any day now, so I hope you’re ready! And I hope you’ve voted for September’s book! Done with all of that? Fantastic! We’re reading Jo Walton’s award-winning Among Others for September, and as always, we would love to have you join us.

And that, friends, is the end of our weekly trip. I hope that you have found something to read and enjoy among the many delightful offerings that our contributors cooked up for you. And please remember that we do so love to chat and comments are always open and welcomed!

With that, I leave you. Have a marvelous weekend, lovelies! I shall return next week for our next time-bending review session. I am zipping off to my own misadventures. Enjoy your week!
