Hello! Happy Saturday! Seasons Greetings, and what-not! For some of us, this is the last weekend before a big holiday. If you are among those running to and fro, attempting to navigate busy stores and coordinating travel plans, may the odds be ever in your favor! Take a few minutes to stop, rest, and look back over what we published for your reading enjoyment over the last week!
Monday
We started the week with our regular feature, My Favorite Things. This week, none other than our very own Venessa Giunta made her second appearance to dish on what she loves best right now. What are her favorite things? “A movie that will rock you, a show that’s both progressive and getting back to its roots, writing to win, and a trailer with the perfect amount of Poppins. Curious? Read on to learn more!”
Tuesday
Erin S. Bales reprised last year’s hit, The Twelve Days of Spec Fic, on Tuesday. Check out Part 2!
Then on Tuesday afternoon, J.L. Gribble shared her thoughts on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse with our newest Sound Off! Go read!
Wednesday
Calie Voorhis honored the mother of speculative fiction (after last month’s tribute to Papa) with the latest installment of Changing the Map. Curious about Mary Shelley? You should be! Go read and mourn the fact that you will never be as edgy as Mama was for her time.
Thursday
Going to visit relatives in an older house next week? You might be stepping foot into someplace haunted. Nu Yang laid out just what terrifies us about haunted houses right here. Read up and be prepared.
Friday
Ronya F. McCool paid us a visit on Friday to give us her opinion on Stanislaw Lem’s Eden as part of her 2018 Resolution Project. Check out her review!
Book Club
If you’re getting ready for a day or two off, why not snag a copy of Jenni Fagan’s The Sunlight Pilgrims and spend some time reading it? Our discussion of the book is coming very soon!
And that’s that. I’m off to do my own bustling about now, but you can bet that I’m going to settle in for a break at some point in the next few days. It’s strange; it’s almost the end of December, and I still haven’t read Hogfather or watched the film. I’m going to need to correct this very soon. Are you celebrating next week? What are your favorite traditions? Celebrating or not, please have a great weekend and a nice week. And make sure to take advantage of the discounted Christmas candy on Wednesday. Candy can bring people together like nothing else.
