Y’all I’m ridiculously excited about this month’s pick, which I will announce after the usual drum roll shenanigans:
The Last Unicorn
Author: Peter S. Beagle
Discussion Date: 9/28/18
The premise:
The unicorn lived in a lilac wood, and she lived all alone. So she ventured out from the safety of the enchanted forest on a quest for others of her kind. Joined along the way by the bumbling magician Schmendrick and the indomitable Molly Grue, the unicorn learns all about the joys and sorrows of life and love before meeting her destiny in the castle of a despondent monarch—and confronting the creature that would drive her kind to extinction…
October is a time for ghosts and ghouls and haunted houses. With that in mind, I’ve come up with three tales of the horror variety for you to peruse and choose from!

Ah, The Last Unicorn! One of my favorite movies as a kid, and the book is so bittersweet. If you have time, be sure to ALSO read the sequel novella, Two Hearts. It makes me cry every time.
